Benchmarks for Science Literacy
Benchmarks for Science Literacy were developed by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)and were used to draft the National Science Education Standards. They identify what all student should know and do in science, mathematics, and technology. The Benchmarks Online can be search by chapter or keyword.

Common Core State Standards Initiative
The Common Core State Standards Initiative is coordinated by the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). The standards were developed in collaboration with teachers, school administrators, and experts, to provide a clear and consistent framework to prepare our children for college and the workforce. New Jersey has adopted the English Language Arts and Mathematics standards.

Content Knowledge
Developed by McREL (Mid-continent Regional Educational Laboratory) this is a compendium of content standards and benchmarks for K-12 education. English Language Proficiency Standards
WIDA (World-class Instructional Design and Assessment), a consortium of states dedicated to high standards and equitable educational opportunities for English language learners developed these standards for English Language Proficiency. WIDA educational products and services fall into three main categories: standards and assessments, professional development for educators, and research.

Illuminations
Created by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), Illuminations is organized by Activities, Lessons, Standards and Web Links. Over 700 activities and lessons can be selected by grade level and math standard. It includes links to the Principles and Standards for School Mathematics, as well as over 700 Internet math resources organized by math standard.

Moving into the Future: National Standards for Physical Education
Originally developed in 1995 and revised in 2004, the National Standards for Physical Education were developed by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education. Benchmarks are given for K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12.

National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS)
National Board Certification is an advanced teaching credential that complements, but does not replace, a state’s teacher license. It is achieved by successful completion of a voluntary assessment program that recognizes teachers who meet high standards. This website provices standards information for each of the 25 certificates currently offered by NBPTS.

National Curriculum Standards for Social Studies
Revised in September 2010 by the National Council for the Social Studies, the National Curriculum Standards for Social Studies is not available online. Only the Executive Summary, Preface, Introduction and the Ten Themes of Social Studies are available from this website. A print copy is available from the CMC of the Cheng Library.

National Educational Technology Standards (NETS)
The National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) developed by the International Society for Technology Education identify technology standards for students, teachers and administrators.

National Health Education Standards (NHES)
Developed by the Joint Committee on National Health Education Standards the National Health Education Standards (NHES) focus on eight standards. Benchmarks are provided for grades 2, 5, 8, and 12. Available from the website of the Center for Disease Control's School Health Education Resources.

National Science Education Standards
The full text of the National Science Education Standards created by the National Research Council are available with registration. National Standards for Arts Education
The National Standards for Arts Education outline what every K-12 student should know and be able to do in the arts (dance, music, theater and visual arts). New Jersey Educator Resource Exchange
Developed by the NJ Department of Education in collaboration with the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) enables NJ educators to share lesson planning resources. By registering teachers can contribute resources (including lesson plans, teaching activities, assessment resources, videos, etc.) aligned to standards. The NJ Model Curriculum is a framework to assist schools with implementation of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards (NJCCCS).

Next Generation Science Standards
Released in Spring 2013 the Next Generation Science Standards were developed by the National Research Council, the National Science Teachers Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and Achieve. NJ participated in the development of these standards, though they have not yet been adopted by New Jersey.

The New Jersey Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (NJASCD) created this web page to help guide the implementation of the Common Core Standards. "Uncommonly Good Curriculum Projects" are units of study developed by schools throughout NJ. "Format/Template for Curriculum Design" can be used for development of curriculum units. Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards
Includes the complete text of the Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards developed by the NJ Department of Education. The 2009 revision of the Core Content Curriculum Standards aligned standards for preschool learning with the K-12 standards. The Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards are also included in the P-12 documents for five subject areas. All the preschool standards for can be accessed through the Core Content Curriculum Standards search engine.

Principles and Standards for School Mathematics

U.S. National Geography Standards

Voluntary National Content Standards in Economics
The 2nd edition of the Voluntary National Content Standards in Economics is available as a pdf from this website. Published in 2010 by the Council for Economic Education, the 20 economics content standards include the most important and enduring ideas, concepts, and issues in economics.
